In a time where social democracy on the global level is more relevant than ever it is time for us to put forward for the first time in IUSY history a comprehensive political program - a IUSY Global Political Manifesto. The global youth of socialists and social democrats has a key role to play in the forming of today's world and by a more coherent and common approach we will be more successful. Many activists, organizations and persons taking part in the global political discussion are interested in the vision of the younger generation of socialists and social democrats and it is time for us to provide them with a comprehensive political program so that we can better communicate and further reach out with our policies. The creation of a Global Political Manifesto is first of all important for IUSY and its member organizations. For a long time member organizations have been requesting a global program they can reflect upon and that inspires and gives guidance in the process of developing their own policies. It would strengthen the political agenda of IUSY to have a comprehensive program and it would raise the level of political debate within IUSY. Based on the timeless values and principles that our movement is rooted in we would need to challenge ourselves to debate and come up with the best political ideas for today's global political questions. The aim of the Global Political Manifesto is to give both an introduction to the values and principles of socialism and social democracy as well as to present our concrete political proposals on different key areas. The political program should be timeless in the sense that it describes our fundamental aim of an equal world and at the same time it should make an up to date contribution to the current political debate with outlining our analyses of today's global challenges and our policy responses that are needed now to tackle these challenges.
