The International Union of Socialist Youth expresses its deepest concern and firm condemnation regarding the grave situation unfolding in Lebanon, marked by recent military attacks that have resulted in the loss of innocent lives and the suffering of thousands of families.
We strongly denounce the killing of civilians, including children and young people, as well as the forced displacement of more than 350,000 minors, who are now living in conditions of extreme vulnerability, deprived of safety, education, and well-being.
These acts constitute a flagrant violation of human rights and international humanitarian law. No conflict can justify indiscriminate harm to the civilian population or the violation of the fundamental principles of human dignity.
We call on the international community, multilateral organizations, and all relevant actors to assume their historic responsibility and take concrete action to prevent further escalation and human suffering by promoting:
• An immediate cessation of aggression and a return to the ceasefire agreement.
• Effective protection of the civilian population.
• Full respect for international humanitarian and human rights law.
• Immediate and unhindered humanitarian access through safe corridors.
• Independent international efforts to ensure accountability and prevent further violations.
• A genuine political process aimed at achieving lasting peace for Lebanon and the wider Middle East.
We call for an immediate end to the war in Lebanon, the withdrawal of Israel from Southern Lebanon, and an end to all external interference that undermines Lebanese sovereignty and stability, including from Iran. Lebanon’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and democratic institutions must be fully respected, and decisions of war and peace must remain exclusively within the authority of the Lebanese state.
We also call upon young people around the world to mobilize in solidarity with the Lebanese people, to advocate, organize, and raise their voices against war, violence, and injustice, and to demand that governments uphold international law and the protection of civilian life.
Peace cannot remain a distant aspiration, it must become a concrete action. It is time to end the war, to prioritize life, and to build a future based on justice, cooperation, and international solidarity.
The International Union of Socialist Youth reaffirms its commitment to peace, justice, human rights, and the dignity of all peoples.
