Official resolution
ARGENTINA’S SOVEREIGNTY OVER THE MALVINAS ISLANDS
July 2026
American Committee
- From the Argentine Radical Youth and Franja Morada, we wish to take this opportunity at the IUSY World Congress to reaffirm the legitimate struggle and continued insistence of the Argentine Republic on respect for its sovereignty over the Malvinas Islands, South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands, which are illegally occupied by the United Kingdom of Great Britain.
- At a time of profound crisis in international relations, which is being exploited by global powers to intensify their neocolonial domination in various parts of the world, it is essential for countries that uphold the principles of international law to close ranks, join efforts, and deepen these just claims in every space for debate.
- In the case of the Malvinas Islands, this imperative becomes urgent when we observe, as has occurred recently, that the British government seeks to continue its policy of undermining international law and Argentina’s prerogatives over these archipelagos by explicitly allowing, as it has done in the past, hydrocarbon exploitation in these territories and in the adjacent maritime areas, which are also part of Argentina’s economic zone.
- For all these reasons, we publicly call upon all our comrades within IUSY to support us in this resolution, convinced of the profound importance that the “Malvinas Question” holds for Argentina and for the entire region.
