Ongoing Violations of the Ceasefire and Collective Punishments on Gaza
July 2026
Mediterranean Committee
- Despite the announced ceasefire in Gaza, Israel continues systematic violation,
- through military operations, air and artillery strikes, and severe restrictions on civilian
- life, causing casualties among civilians, mostly women and children, and widespread
- destruction of infrastructure. Over 90% of Gaza’s population depends entirely on
- humanitarian aid, while most health and service facilities remain damaged. Limited
- entry of essential supplies, alongside the blockade and denial of water, electricity, and
- energy, constitutes collective punishment and violates international humanitarian
- law. The West Bank, including Jerusalem, is also experiencing escalating military
- repression and settler violence, including attacks on civilians, destruction of homes,
- and forced displacement. These policies reflect ongoing oppression, entrenchment of
- apartheid, and the undermining of the Palestinian right to self-determination,
- representing serious violations of international law and a direct threat to peace.
IUSY calls upon all member organizations to:
- Condemn Israel’s ongoing violations of the ceasefire and attacks on civilians as
- serious breaches of international humanitarian law.
- Demand the immediate lifting of the Gaza blockade, ensuring full
- humanitarian access and withdrawal of occupation forces.
- Support comprehensive international sanctions, including arms export bans and
- diplomatic measures, until Israel complies with international law.
- Promote the boycott of Israeli products, particularly from illegal settlements, as
- a peaceful and effective accountability tool.
- Strengthen international solidarity with the Palestinian people and support
- their legitimate struggle for freedom, justice, and self-determination.
