Youth Opportunities as a Global Challenge

Modern Revolutionary Youth (JRM), together with other organizations of the American Committee, within the framework of the International Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY), recognizes that the lack of opportunities for young people is today one of the main challenges facing our societies. Across different countries and regions, millions of young people see their right to quality education, decent employment, political participation, and access to fair living conditions restricted, leading to frustration, social exclusion, and growing distrust in democratic institutions.
This reality affects most strongly young people from impoverished backgrounds, young women, migrants, and historically marginalized communities. Labor precarization, informality, the impact of economic and climate crises, as well as the lack of sustained public policies for youth, deepen existing inequalities and reduce real opportunities for personal and collective development. As progressive youth organizations, we cannot accept that an entire generation sees its future conditioned by political decisions in which it is not taken into account.
For this reason, IUSY calls on political parties, governments, and member organizations to place youth opportunities at the center of the global political agenda. We advocate for policies that guarantee accessible education, employment with rights, technical and digital training, support for youth entrepreneurship, and meaningful spaces for participation in decision-making processes. We firmly believe that expanding opportunities for young people is an essential condition for strengthening democracy, social justice, and peace, and we reaffirm our commitment to continue working through international solidarity to build a future with greater equality and dignity for all.
