Ban Gambling Advertising

July 2026 European Committee
  1. Addiction is no laughing matter. Not only does it affect the person struggling, but family, friends, and society also pay an equally high price. The aggressive gambling advertisements constantly shown on TV, social media, radio, and billboards will not help when you are deciding whether to end the evening with some betting or just a cup of tea. Moreover, these ads often target vulnerable groups and young people. Kicking those who are already down is something we must stand against!
  2. Gambling addiction is estimated to cost only Swedish taxpayers enough to be able to cover the salaries of approximately 34,000 assistant nurses, not to mention what it has cost the rest of the world. By banning gambling advertising, we can reduce the normalization of gambling as entertainment and instead use those resources for initiatives that genuinely benefit society. Other countries have already implemented strict restrictions or outright bans on gambling advertising, proving that it is possible!
  3. It is time to put citizens’ health above gambling companies’ profits. A ban on gambling advertising is a step toward a responsible and strong society.
