For building back better international cooperation

1. The International Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY) expresses its deep concern over recent violations of international law in several conflicts as well as an increasing isolationism and anti-multilateralism among nations. As stated by the foreign policy think tank Eurasia Group, this year and the following ones, the world is heading to a so-called G-0 order.
2. This started in 2022 with the war on Ukraine, has continued during the conflict in Gaza and the Middle East, and is now being accelerated by the US foreign policy under Trump. The rule of law is being replaced by the rule of (military and economic) strength.
3. A G-0 order brings high levels of political and economic uncertainty, impacting most heavily on emerging and developing economies, slowing down international trade and cooperation among nations to successfully reduce poverty and mitigate climate change.
4. Nevertheless, before international trade and cooperation started to be weakened, it still had major deficits. Global commerce produced an unprecedented amount of wealth, however it increasingly concentrated into few hands and deepened social inequalities within countries. International diplomatic and development cooperation only recently adopted concepts of social justice and sustainability, which are now almost gone.

Therefore, IUSY urgently calls to:

5. Build bridges between and within countries as a response to increasingly dangerous divisions, with social justice, sustainability and freedom as guiding principles.
6. Strengthen international dialogue and cooperation between IUSY members and beyond.
7. Promote research, training and discussions on intercultural competences for key political, economic and social actors, who share our values, especially internationality.
8. IUSY reaffirms that there can be no full democracy without social justice and the rule of law.
