IN DEFENSE OF ARGENTINA’S PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES

From the Argentine Radical Youth and Franja Morada, we reaffirm our commitment to the defense of public education in Argentina and of the national university system as fundamental pillars of our history and of our aspirations for progress, inclusion, and upward social mobility.
At the same time, we wish to once again denounce the attempts by the National Government, led by President Javier Milei, to undermine, hollow out, and attack Argentina’s public universities.
We call for university funding in our country that is commensurate with the needs of the entire academic community, composed of faculty, non-teaching staff, researchers, and students who honor Argentina through their constant and dedicated work.
We publicly condemn the austerity policies of the National Government, whose ideological fanaticism has led it to damage the university system—not only by defunding it and stripping it of any possibility of recovery, but also by delegitimizing it before public opinion through disinformation, lies, and slander.
Convinced that we are facing the very core of Argentina’s political dispute—where the forces that advocate obscurantism, anti-scientific thinking, dogma, and fanaticism confront those of us who dream of integrating all social classes under the umbrella of free, secular, and high-quality public education—we issue this call to all IUSY organizations to support this resolution with their vote.
