Modern Revolutionary Youth (JRM), representing the largest youth political force in the Dominican Republic, reaffirms its commitment to democratic socialism, social justice, and the active political participation of young people in building a more just and equal future. Over the past two years, our nation has recorded significant advances that directly impact Dominican youth: approximately 200,000 young people have benefited from national and international scholarships and foreign language programs, democratizing access to quality education and improving opportunities for employability and social mobility; in addition, programs such as Opportunity 14/24 have graduated more than 22,000 young people in technical and professional training, facilitating labor market insertion for many of them in vulnerable conditions; and the strengthening of youth entrepreneurship and development initiatives has promoted training in innovation, business, and formal employment, reducing dropout rates and expanding prospects for new generations. Likewise, school transportation systems benefiting students have been implemented, and labor intermediation programs and preferential credit schemes for youth-led enterprises have been promoted, fostering quality employment and a comprehensive well-being perspective for new generations.
We recognize that, despite these advances, profound challenges remain in the areas of equality, human rights, and sustainability. Regarding equality, the Dominican Republic has strengthened social policies aimed at reducing gender- and age-based gaps in employment, as well as enhancing educational and professional inclusion for historically marginalized sectors. In the field of human rights, while important transformations have taken place in national jurisprudence in favor of non-discrimination—such as the removal of discriminatory bans within law enforcement institutions against LGBTQ+ people—we also understand that the struggle for real equality and the protection of all groups must be intensified, ensuring not only equality of rights on paper but their effective implementation in people’s daily lives. In the environmental sphere, as a youth movement aware of our responsibility toward the planet, we welcome governmental efforts to move toward a cleaner energy matrix, with ambitious goals to increase the share of renewable energy to around 25% of the electricity system, strengthening climate change mitigation policies and promoting green jobs and sustainable development.
From the Dominican Republic, Modern Revolutionary Youth reiterates its firm commitment to working within IUSY to consolidate a global progressive agenda that addresses the demands of our generation: quality education and equitable access to opportunities, decent work, respect for and the deepening of human rights, gender equality and diversity, climate justice, and environmental sustainability. We recognize that the challenges we face are not unique to our country, but are shared by youth around the world. Therefore, we are committed to strengthening international solidarity and cooperation among progressive youth movements to transform realities, promote more just and sustainable societies, and ensure that the voices of young people are heard and taken into account in building a future with greater equality, freedom, and dignity for all.
